I've got on brilliantly with the fans and my team-mates. If there's something I'll always remember when I leave - if I do finally leave - it is how great the fans have been to me."

FIFA World Cup™ Germany 2006 player's profile

Buenos Aires native Carlos 'Carlitos' Tevez made a huge impression at his first club Boca Juniors, helping them win the CONMEBOL Copa Libertadores in 2003 and becoming a crowd favourite.
This speedy and skilful forward won a gold medal and finished as top scorer at the Olympics Football Tournament in Athens in 2004. He had earlier played at the 2001 FIFA U-17 World Championship.

Tevez was also part of Argentina’s squads for the 2004 CONMEBOL Copa America and the 2005 FIFA Confederations Cup.

In 2005 he made a surprise move to Brazil’s Corinthians and immediately guided them to a league title. In December 2005 he was named South American Player of the Year for a record third consecutive time.
