August 17: Announced that he is desperate to leave Lyon and join Real Madrid. "In my head, it's clear. I want to join Real, I told (Aulas) I wanted to go to Real. Lyon is not listening. I can't take it any more," he said.
August 18: Lyon agreed to let him join Real Madrid on a reported 26 million euros transfer fee.
August 19: Said he is delighted that French champions Olympique Lyon have given into his wishes and agreed to sell him to Real Madrid. "I'm the happiest person in the world," Diarra told AS. "It was a dream for me to play for Real Madrid and at last I'm going to fulfill it."

February: Mahamadou Diarra said he's unhappy with his level of play since joining Real Madrid from Lyon at the start of the season. "I can do a lot better. If I had to give myself a report I'd say I've been mediocre," he acknowledged.
June 17: Helped Real Madrid to end their four-year trophy drought when they won the league title for the 30th time after a dramatic 3-1 comeback victory over Real Mallorca at the Bernabeu.
2008
January: Represented Mali in the Africa Cup of Nations at Ghana.
May 4: Helped Real Madrid to win its 31st Primera Division title.
December 8: Real Madrid CF announced that Mahamadou Diarra faces up to nine months on the sidelines with a serious knee problem. Diarra's woes began back on 11 October when he picked up an injury in his right knee while playing for Mali in a FIFA World Cup qualifier against Chad. The 27-year-old made his comeback in a Copa del Rey tie against Real Union Club on 30 October but soon suffered a relapse.
