May 19: Greece beat Cyprus 2-0 with winger Sotiris Ninis marking his debut with the opening goal after five minutes. He also bettered by 244 days the 39-year record held by Konstantinos Eleftherakis - becoming Greece's most junior marksman some 46 days after his 18th birthday. Of the 18-year-old, Rehhagel said: "Ninis is a very young player who became the youngest goalscorer for Greece. We wanted to check him out for the future, for after the EURO, and to give him a lift."
