1975 Born March 9 in Wijchen, Netherlands. 2006 April: Omitted from coach Marco van Basten's provisional 33-man Dutch squad for World Cup finals.. Signs contract extension with FC Bayern until 2008... Helps Bayern to beat Eintracht Frankfurt 1-0 to win the German Cup for the 13th time. May: Wins 20th German Bundesliga title for Bayern. 2007 March 7: Scored the fastest goal in Champions League history to lead Bayern Munich to a frantic 2-1 win over Real Madrid, sending the Germans through to the quarter-finals on the away goals rule. His goal after only 11 seconds eclipsed the previous mark set by Gilberto 20.07 seconds into Arsenal's match against PSV Eindhoven on Sept. 25, 2002. March 31: Scored his 100th goal for Bayern Munich as the champions roared back into the Bundesliga title race with a 2-0 win at home to leaders Schalke 04. June 28: Moved to Feyenoord from Bayern Munich on a three-year contract. Makaay led Bayern with 16 goals last season, but decided to leave after it brought in Italy striker Luca Toni and Germany forward Miroslav Klose. He played 178 times for Bayern, scoring 102 goals, including 78 goals in 129 Bundesliga matches -- giving him the second-best strike ratio in Bayern's history after Gerd Mueller. 2008 April 27: Helped Feyenoord to end a six-year trophy wait by defeating Roda 2-0 in the 2007-08 Dutch Cup final in the De Kuip Stadium in Rotterdam. August: Member of the Dutch team that reached the Beijing Olympic Games quarterfinals.

UEFA Champions League
2005-06 player's profile
Quick on the ground, strong in the air, and blessed with two
good feet, Dutch international Roy Makaay has been a prolific
goalscorer wherever he has played.
Club
Discovered by BV Vitesse, Makaay scored 42 league goals for the
Arnhem club before joining Spanish side CD Tenerife in 1997 along
with team-mate Ferdi Vierklau for a combined fee of 10m.
Tenerife were relegated in 1998/99 but RC Deportivo La Coruña
took Makaay straight back into the top division, and his 22 goals
fired the Galicians to their first Spanish title in 1999/00.
Injuries hampered his next two seasons before he struck gold
in 2002/03 with 29 league goals, winning the ESM Golden Shoe.
That persuaded FC Bayern München to pay a fee in excess
of 17m for his services and his goalscoring prowess did
not get lost in translation to the Bundesliga. He was in daunting
form in 2004/05, scoring 22 league goals as Bayern claimed the
first of two consecutive domestic doubles. He scored 17 in 2005/06,
but it was not his best season as his place in the first team
came under threat.
National team
Makaay made his international debut for the Netherlands in a
3-1 victory against Wales on 5 October 1996 but did not score
his first goal until his 18th appearance. He played at UEFA EURO
2000 and UEFA EURO 2004 but a disappointing 2005/06
season at Bayern meant he missed out on a place in Marco van
Basten's squad for the 2006 FIFA World Cup finals.
Did you know?
Makaay played 31 times for the Dutch Under-21 side, a record
he shares with Arnold Bruggink.

UEFA EURO 2004 player's profile
Dutch international Roy Makaay has all the attributes of a top
striker: quick on the ground, strong in the air, and blessed
with two good feet. In 2002/03 he won the ESM Golden Shoe award
for finishing as Europe's top marksman.
National team
Makaay made his international debut for the Netherlands in a
3-1 victory against Wales on 5 October 1996. He waited eight
months for his second call, and scored his first goal on his
18th appearance. He played at UEFA EURO 2000 and was part
of the squad which missed out on the 2002 FIFA World Cup. In
UEFA EURO 2004 qualifying Patrick Kluivert and Ruud van
Nistelrooij were ahead of Makaay in the reckoning, but he played
four times. In Portugal Van Nistelrooij was the lone striker,
but Makaay came off the bench three times, scoring against Latvia
and playing in the quarter-final against Sweden and the semi-final
defeat by the hosts.
Club
A protégé at SBV Vitesse, Makaay scored 42 goals
in 109 Dutch league games for the Arnhem outfit.
1997: Makaay joined CD Tenerife along with team-mate Ferdi
Vierklau for 10m. In 1998/99 he struck 14 times in 36 games,
although the islanders were still relegated.
1999: Returned immediately to the Primera División
by signing for RC Deportivo La Coruña. Makaay enjoyed
a dream start to his Riazor career, his 22 goals firing the Galicians
to their first Spanish title in 1999/00. The next two seasons
yielded only eight more, though, as he struggled with injuries.
However, Makaay revived sufficiently to score the goal against
Real Madrid CF that helped secure Deportivo's place in the UEFA
Champions League on the last day of the 2001/02 season. Makaay
scored 29 league goals during the following campaign to claim
the Golden Shoe as Depor finished third.
2003/04: In August he left the Riazor for FC Bayern München,
signing a four-year deal for a fee in excess of 17m and
was an instant success, scoring 23 times in 32 league games and
six in eight Champions League matches.
Did you know?
Makaay played 31 times for the Dutch Under-21 side, a record
he shares with Arnold Bruggink.
