1979 Born July 13 in Canton, Cardiff, Wales. 1997 March 15: Made his first team debut for the Norwich City at Crystal Palace. 2005 January 23: Bellamy was omitted from the team for a Premiership match with Arsenal. Before the match, Souness said that Bellamy had a hamstring problem, but contradicted himself in a post-match interview, claiming that Bellamy was benched for being unprepared to play as a right-sided midfielder. Minutes later, Bellamy gave an interview of his own saying that he was prepared to play in any position. He admitted that he had threatened to fake injury ahead of the Arsenal match, and in a later interview accused Souness of lying about him. January 25: Newcastle United fined Bellamy two weeks' wages (about £80,000). January 31: Sent on loan to Celtic of the Scottish Premier League for the remainder of the season. 2006 June 23: Joined Liverpool FC from Blackburn Rovers FC for a reported 10m Euros. August 13: Helped Liverpool to lift the Community Shield at the Millennium Stadium. October: Awarded the captain's armband by Welsh manager John Toshack when Ryan Giggs was unavailable through injury for the Euro 2008 qualifier against Slovakia. His captaincy got off to a poor start with a 5-1 defeat. However, in his second game as captain against Cyprus, Wales won 3-1. 2007 February 20: Allegedly hit John Arne Riise in the legs with a golf club while Liverpool was in Portugal at a training camp preparing for a Champions League match against FC Barcelona. Both players were fined two weeks pay by the team. The incident earned him the nickname "The Nutter with the Putter". February 21: Celebrated his 43rd minute equalizer at Barcelona by emulating a golf stroke and set up John Arne Riise's winning match goal in the 74th. The defeat was Barcelona's first in their Nou Camp stadium in any competition this season and their first in the Champions League since April 2003. July 7: Left Liverpool FC to sign for Premier League rivals West Ham United FC in a reported €11m transfer. November 14: Named the Welsh Footballer of the Year.
