May: Pulled out of the World Cup after damaging knee ligaments in an under-21 match.
August 30: Roma have strengthened their attacking options by signing Mirko Vucinic from relegated Lecce for an initial €3.3m. Roma will pay a further 7.5m euros for him next summer should they decide to commit to a permanent transfer until 2011.
2007
March 23: Named captain of the Montenegro national team for their debut as an independent nation. "The national team staff have decided Vucinic should be the first Montenegro captain," assistant coach Branko Brnovic told reporters in Podgorica.
March 24: Scored Montenegro's first ever goal in their 2-1 defeat of Hungary in Podgorica.
October 17: Scored a lonely goal to give Montenegro their first away victory since joining the international football family in the 1-0 defeat of Estonia.

U-21 Championship Profile
Arguably the biggest star in the current Serbia and Montenegro
team, Vucinic was named 2005 Serie A Young Player of the Year
after terrific goalscoring form at US Lecce. Fast, accurate and
technically gifted, he was spotted by the Italian club's scouts
while playing for FK Sutjeska, where he made his first-team debut
before his 16th birthday. He has now been in Italy for several
years, but has always insisted that at least one member of his
family be around him at all times to stop him getting homesick
and in years to come the bond with his homeland could grow stronger
- he has already been capped three times for the senior national
team.
