Anthony Le Tallec · France
UEFA European U-21 Championship 2006 player's profile

A deep-lying pacy forward, Le Tallec burst on to the scene in France’s FIFA Under-17 World Championship-winning side of 2001, scoring six goals including one in the final against Nigeria. He soon made his debut for Le Havre AC, notching up his first goal inside 20 minutes of first-team football, before catching the eye of Liverpool FC manager Gérard Houllier who took him to Anfield in summer 2002. Spent the 2004/05 campaign on loan at AS Saint-Etienne and this season back in England with Sunderland, for whom he scored four goals in 26 games as they finished bottom of the Premiership. Le Tallec continues to thrive on the international stage, however, scoring seven in eight games to help France book a place in Portugal.
